Metal X
An accessible end-to-end metal 3D printing solution designed to yield functional metal parts.
PRODUCT FEATURES
THE METAL X 3D PRINTING SYSTEM
The Markforged Metal X is a new kind of metal printer. By printing metal powder bound in a plastic matrix, Markforged has become the first company to eliminate the safety risks associated with traditional metal 3D printers.
In practice, the Metal X is essentially a very advanced FFF 3D printer. Featuring a precision machined gantry, a heated chamber and print bed, and advanced extrusion hardware, the Metal X is equipped to reliably print you durable parts.

ADAM | Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing
ADAM is an end-to-end process that starts with metal powder, captures it in a plastic binder (which makes it safe to handle), and then forms it into the part shape one layer at a time. After printing you sinter the part in a furnace, burning off the binder and solidifying the powder into the final fully-dense metal part.
Design
CAD your part, upload the STL, and select from a wide range of metals. The Eiger software does the rest making printing the right part easy.
Print
Metal powder bound in plastic is printed a layer at a time into the shape of your part. Parts are scaled up to compensate for shrinkage during the sintering process.
Sinter
Printed parts go through a washing stage to remove some of the binder. They are then sintered in a furnace and the metal powder fuses into solid metal.
Part
Now comprised only of pure metal, the final parts are ready for use. They can be processed and treated just like any other metal parts.

METAL 3D PRINTING MATERAILS
17-4 PH Stainless Steel
Combines high strength, corrosion resistance, and hardness. Used in a wide variety of manufacturing applications.
H13 Tool Steel
A hot-work tool steel with excellent toughness, wear resistance, and heat resistance. Excels in high temperatures.
Inconel 625
A proprietary nickel-chromium alloy that excels in high temperatures and corrosive environments. Used in automotive and aerospace.
A2 Tool Steel
A2 can be air-hardened up to 50 HRC and is tough, vehicle. Used for punches, dies, and form tooling.
D2 Tool Steel
D2 can be air-hardened to 60 HRC and is extremely abrasion resistant. It is often used for cutting tools and dies.
Copper
Combines thermal and electrical conductivity. Print heat sinks, custom conductive elements, and other geometrically complex parts.

WASH & SINTER
Wash
The Wash immerses the green part in a specialized fluid which removes the primary binding material, leaving the part semi-porous so the remaining binder can easily burn off during sintering. This debinding step purifies the final metal part and helps keep your sintering furnace clean.
Sinter
The Sinter effortlessly transforms brown (washed) parts into their almost completely dense metal form at up to 1300 ° C. Based on 30 years of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology. Several components can be sintered at the same time!

EIGER SOFTWARE
With a built-in laser micrometer, the X3 3D plastic printer automatically scans the print bed with 1μm accuracy to generate a contour map of it's surface. By calibrating it's measurements with extrusion readings to perfectly set nozzle height and active topography adjustment, the X3 ensures your prints come out exactly how you want them.
